Three Angels prospects were in action on Friday afternoon.

The Scottsdale Scorpions, which houses the Angels' prospects each fall in the Arizona Fall League, fell to the Phoenix Desert Dogs by a score of 4-3 on Friday afternoon. The Scorpions have now lost five games in a row, although they remain just 1.5 games back of the Salt River Rafters for the top spot in the Eastern Division.

Two Angels hitting prospects saw playing time this afternoon. Kaleb Cowart, a 20-year-old third baseman, made the start at the hot corner and went 1-for-4 with a strikeout. He's batting just .200 in the AFL this year, which is a bit of a surprise given he posted a .810 OPS last season in the Minor Leagues.

Travis Witherspoon, a 23-year-old outfielder, played center field for Scottsdale and recorded a single in his three plate appearances. Witherspoon is batting .194 so far this fall.

Scottsdale will take on the Surprise Saguaros at 6:10 p.m. PT on Saturday night.
