The Arizona Fall League continued on Friday and four prospects from the Los Angeles Angels were on the field playing for the Scottsdale Scorpions.
Three position players were in the lineup on Friday, including catcher Carlos Ramirez. Ramierz went 1-3 on the day while also drawing a walk and scoring twice. Ramirez has now hit safely in five of the six AFL games he's played. He's hitting .294 in the AFL, although he's yet to record an extra base hit.
Right fielder Randal Grichuk also scored two runs, although he did so without recording a hit. Grichuk walked once and also stole a base. Center fielder Travis Witherspoon continued to be a threat on the bases as he went 1-3 with a walk and stole two bases. Witherspoon now has five stolen bases in 16 AFL games.
On the mound, Kevin Johnson pitched a perfect inning of relief. Johnson did not allow a baserunner and needed just 12 pitched to retire the side in order. He has now made seven AFL appearances, six of which have been scoreless.
