Los Angeles Angels' pitching prospect Nick Maronde is the No. 45 overall minor league pitching prospect, according to Minor League Ball.

The 23-year-old left hander from Lexington, Ky., was drafted by the Halos in the third round of the 2011 amateur draft. He made his major-league debut on Sept. 2, 2012, and appeared in 12 games with the big club, totaling a 1.50 ERA in six innings pitched, with seven strikeouts and three walks.

Maronde was also drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 43rd round of the 2008 draft, but did not sign then, instead opting to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville.

The Angels' staff had a team ERA of 4.02, good for eighth in the American League, despite having a staff full of marquee names. They were also 10th in the AL in saves, collecting just 38 on 60 opportunities during the 2012 regular season. They went on to miss the postseason, finishing in third place in the AL West behind the Athletics and the Texas Rangers.
