Angels catching prospect and former ASU Sun Devil Carlos Ramirez managed one hit and scored a run as the Scottsdale Scorpions of the Arizona Fall League defeated the Phoenix Desert Dogs, 6-2, on Wednesday.
Ramirez, who hails from Tuscon, Ariz. and was in as the team's designated hitter against the Desert Dogs, is batting .286 with two RBIs on the season.
Two other Angels prospects saw action in the form of pitcher Kevin Johnson and Kaleb Cowart. Neither would fare too well, as Cowart went 0-for-4 after starting at third base and struck out twice. It's been a rough start to the season for him, as he is batting just .158 so far.
Johnson, a right hander, faced four batters and allowed two hits, which brings his season ERA to 3.52 in 7⅔ innings pitched. He has seven strikeouts and has allowed 11 hits and three earned runs over that stretch for the Scorpions.
