Play in the Arizona Fall League continued on Friday with the Scottsdale Scorpions knocking off the Salt River Rafters 4-0. Two Angels prospects played key roles in the Scorpions win.
Angels' pitching prospect Bobby Cassevah started the game for the Scorpions and pitched three scoreless innings. Cassevah allowed just one hit while striking out one and walking two. He pitched in 49 games in relief this past season, including 44 in Triple-A.
On the offensive side, third baseman Kaleb Cowart went 1-4 with a single and an RBI. Cowart is off to a good start in AFL play and now has three hits in his first nine at bats. A strong AFL season would be a good sign for Cowart who had somewhat of a down season in High-A. Cowart was ranked as the Angels No. 5 prospect heading into the season by Minor League Baseball, but hit just .259 this season.
The Scorpions will be back in action on Saturday when they face the Peoria Javelinas.
