The Arizona Fall League is under way as the Scottsdale Scorpions took on the Salt River Rafters Thursday night, with a number of Los Angeles Angels seeing action for the Scorpions. Yet despite a late rally, Angels reliever Buddy Boshers would blow the save in the bottom of the ninth leading to a 6-5 loss.
Boshers faced five batters in the ninth inning, giving up a homer to Nationals prospect Brian Goodwin to tie the game. He then allowed back-to-back singles and a walk to Anthony Rendon to load the bases. The White Sox's Andy Wilkins ended the game with a single for his second RBI of the game.
Fellow Anaheim reliever Ryan Chaffee tossed 1/3 of an inning of relief, giving up three hits one run, one walk and one strikeout. Travis Witherspoon went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
The Scorpions and Rafters lock horns once again on Friday with first pitch scheduled for 5:35 p.m. PT.
