Now that the Los Angeles Angels have been eliminated from playoff contention, they are reduced to playing out the string with two final games against the Texas Rangers. Ervin Santana was scheduled to start on Tuesday night, but apparently Santana, with 229 innings under his belt, will sit in favor of Tyler Chatwood, per Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register.
Colby Lewis will start for the Rangers.
Mark Trumbo, who will need four to six weeks to recover from a stress fracture in his right foot, has been voted team MVP by the Angels. Trumbo, who hit .254/.291/.477 with a team-leading 29 home runs and 87 runs batted in, is the third rookie to win the award, joining Bobby Knoop (1964) and Tim Salmon (1993).
Current Angels pitching coach Mike Butcher, who pitched in relief for the Angels from 1992-1995, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before Tuesday's game.
Tuesday's 7:05 p.m. PDT game will be televised by Fox Sports West. For all things Angels, be sure to read Halos Heaven.
