Tyler Chatwood Subs For Jered Weaver In Angels Opener With Twins

The Angels are 4-2 against the Twins this season.

The Los Angeles Angels return home Friday night to open a nine-game homestand, facing the Minnesota Twins at Angel Stadium in Anaheim. Tyler Chatwood was recalled from Triple A to make the start tonight, taking the place of Jered Weaver. Weaver attended the funeral of his grandfather on Friday, and had his start moved to Saturday.

Chatwood is 6-9 with a 4.35 ERA this season, but was optioned on August 18 after a string of poor outings. Over his last four starts, Chatwood allowed 18 runs on 31 hits in 19 innings, and walked seven with just 10 strikeouts. During that span, he was 0-3, and saw his ERA rise from 3.64 to 4.35.

Howie Kendrick has been on a hot streak of late, with seven home runs in his last 14 games, hitting .339/.383/.786 during that span with 14 runs scored and 13 RBI. Kendrick has already set a new career high with 15 home runs this season.

The Angels are 4-2 against the Twins this season. Former Angels reliever Brendan Donnelly will throw out the first pitch before Friday night's contest.

Friday's 7:05 p.m. PDT game will be televised by Fox Sports West. For more news and information regarding the Angels, be sure to read Halos Heaven.
