Angels Might Need Weekend Sweep Of Orioles To Keep Pace In AL West

The Angels are 5-1 against the Orioles this season.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim swept the Baltimore Orioles four weeks ago in Anaheim, and will likely need to do the same this weekend at Camden Yards to keep pace in the American League West. The Angels and Orioles open a three-game series Friday night, with Dan Haren on the mound facing Tommy Hunter for Baltimore.

The Angels are three games behind the Texas Rangers in the loss column, with 13 games remaining in the regular season.

The Angels are 5-1 against the Orioles this season, including winning two of three games in Baltimore from July 22-24. Haren needs one win to tie his career high of 16, set in 2008 when he was with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Haren shutout the Yankees in his last start, on Saturday in Anaheim, his third shutout of the season.

Hunter, who was acquired from Texas on July 30, has faced the Angels seven times in his career, including six starts. In those games, Hunter is 1-4 with an 8.79 ERA, allowing 28 runs in 28 2/3 innings.

Friday's 4:05 p.m. PDT game will be televised by Fox Sports West. For more Angels news and information, be sure to read Halos Heaven.
