Dan Haren Opens Showdown Series For Angels Against Rangers In Arlington

The Angels are 6-7 against the Rangers this season.

The red-hot Los Angeles Angels look to win their seventh straight game Friday night as they begin their weekend showdown series in Arlington against the Texas Rangers. The Angels trail Texas by two games heading into the three-game series. Dan Haren starts the opener for the Halos.

Haren has faced the Rangers twice this season. In Arlington on May 14, Haren allowed two runs, one earned, pitching into the eighth inning in a 3-2 Angels' win. The Rangers touched up Haren for seven runs on July 20, but the Angels came back and won 9-8. On the season, Haren is 13-6 with a 2.98 ERA.

The Angels have announced that both Ervin Santana and Jered Weaver will pitch on short rest this weekend, meaning the Angels will send their three best pitchers to the mound against Texas. Derek Holland starts the opener for Texas.
