2011 MLB Free Agents: Angels Pushing For C.J. Wilson

According to MLB.com's Joe Frisaro the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are 'ramping up' their efforts to sign starting pitcher C.J. Wilson, with hopes of inking the talented lefty sometime on Wednesday.

An inside source told Frisaro that the Halos are targeting the Texas Rangers' free agent, who had a spectacular year down in Arlington with a 16-7 record, 2.94 ERA, and 1.19 WHIP. He was also part of the 200 K club, fanning 206 batters in 2011 while walking 74, as well as his stout .223 BAA. The Halos could seriously use another golden arm in their rotation to couple their already budding superstar Jerad Weaver.

It was also mentioned late tuesday night that the Angels were seen as the third and final "mystery team"  gunning  for slugger Albert Pujols along with the Cardinals and Marlins, though it seems Wilson is the one most likely to be acquired.
