The strength of the Los Angeles Angels this season was without question their starting pitching. Jered Weaver and Dan Haren combined for 34 wins and a 2.79 ERA in 474 innings in 2011. Both finished in the top six of the SB Nation American League Cy Young Award, which was won on Tuesday by Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers.
Weaver finished second in the AL in both ERA (2.41) and adjusted ERA+ (158; with above 100 being above average). He parlayed his season into a five-year, $85 million contract signed in September.
