The Angels may not have made the playoffs in 2011, but the team received stellar performances from multiple players. First baseman Mark Trumbo had an excellent rookie season and was voted Most Outstanding Rookie by his peers in the league. He beat out Jeremy Hellickson of the Rays and Eric Hosmer of the Royals for the honor.
That's quite a season for any player, let alone a 25-year old rookie. Trumbo also won the Sporting News vote for Rookie of the Year, which was also compiled by players around the league.
Torii Hunter also won an award on Thursday night, taking home the "Heart and Hustle Award."
Congratulations to both players! For more on the Angels, check out Halos Heaven.
