Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim first baseman Mark Trumbo certainly made his mark around the league in his rookie year, but also made an impact on the sports writers or America as well. it was announced on Wednesday that Trumbo won the Sporting News' Rookie of the Year award, the ninth Halo all time to achieve the award.

Trumbo led the team in home runs (29) and RBI (87), the first Angels rookie to ever accomplish that feat, joining the likes of Jody Gerut in 2003 and Albert Pujols in 2001, the last rookies to ever do so. And even though the Sporting News ROY is different than the A.L. Rookie of the Year, four of the last five A.L. rookies to lead in HR and RBI has won the award, so Trumbo could certainly take the cake again this year.

The awards don't stop there though, as the Baseball Writers of America (BBWAA.com) will be announcing the winners of the Jackie Robinson Award for each league on Monday, November 14.
