Angels GM Search: Angels Interested in Omar Minaya?

In their on going search for a new general manager, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have targeted a number of possible candidates, but can now add one more to the list as the L.A. Times has reported that the team is interested in Omar Minaya, the former Montreal Expos and New York Mets GM.

Though an Angels spokesperson would neither confirm or deny the report, the Dominican born Minaya could be seen as a decent fit with the organization due to the fact that Angels owner Arte Moreno is baseball’s first Latino owner, playing to a large group of Latin-Americans in the greater Los Angeles area.

Since former GM Tony Reagins resigned the Angels have reportedly had talks with Kim Ng, former Dodgers assistant GM, Rick Hahn, the White Sox’s vice president and assistant GM, Jerry Dipoto, a senior vice president for the Diamondbacks, and Yankees executives Billy Eppler and Damon Oppenheimer.
