Vernon Wells Trade Pushes Angels Payroll North Of $140 Million
Now, with the Vernon Wells trade, the Angels have moved into a new stratosphere. Even factoring in shedding the salaries of Mike Napoli (between $5.3 million and $6.1 million) and Juan Rivera ($5.25 million), adding Wells' $23 million price tag for 2011 pushes the Angels' 2011 payroll over $140 million.
