The Los Angeles Galaxy are on their way back to the Western Conference Semifinals after a comeback victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps, 2-1.

The Whitecaps struck first and struck quick. Rookie Darren Mattocks scored in the fourth minute of the game and the Whitecaps defense took over for the rest of the first half, taking the 1-0 lead in to the half. The Galaxy were aggressive throughout the game, out shooting Vancouver 23-9, but only seven of those 23 shots were on target.

The Galaxy finally broke through in the 69th minute of the game off a Mike Magee side volley. The goal was Magee's fourth in his last five playoff games dating back to last year. Just four minutes later, the Galaxy took the lead on a Landon Donovan penalty kick. The Galaxy hung on for the remainder of the game, advancing past the Knockout round and in to the Semifinals.

The Galaxy will next face the San Jose Earthquakes. Los Angeles will host Sunday's opener, with the second game in the home-and-home series set for Nov. 7 in Santa Clara.
