The Baylor Bears offense rolled through the 2012 Holiday Bowl, beating the UCLA Bruins 49-26 Thursday night. The Bears won with well balanced offensive attack and a surprisingly stout defensive effort.
The balanced offense presented a bit of a problem in naming an offensive MVP for the game. In the end, running back Lache Seastrunk beat out quarterback Nick Florence and fellow running back Glasco Martin for the honors. Seastrunk finished with 138 yards rushing including a 43 yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Florence threw for 188 yards and two touchdowns, rushing for another while Martin rushed for 98 yards and three scores. Florence also broke Baylor's single season passing mark, which was set last year by Robert Griffin III.
Defensive End Chris McAllister anchored a defensive front that held Bruins running back Johnathan Franklin, who finished the season with 1700 yards on the ground, to 34 yards for the game. The Bears defense also held the Bruins to 1-17 in third down conversions.
