Chivas USA are nine points out of the fifth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference with nine games left on the schedule, having played the fewest games of anyone in the league. Today the Goats begin using those games in hand as they travel to take on the Seattle Sounders this afternoon.
When these teams met two weeks ago, Seattle put a 6-2 beating on Chivas at The Home Depot Center. In their first game of the season, back on May 26, the two western conference foes split the points in a 1-1 draw.
Seattle is currently in third place in the conference with 44 points from a 12-6-8 record. Chivas currently sits at eighth in the Western Conference at 7-11-7, giving them 28 points. Seattle has only lost three times in front of the home crowd at CenturyLink Field this season.
