Chivas USA Vs. Rapids Final Score: Angel Helps Chivas Get 1-1 Tie

Juan Pablo Angel scored an equalizer in the 83rd minute for Chivas USA, helping his team avoid a loss against the Colorado Rapids, 1-1, on Saturday night at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

The Rapids drew first blood in the 19th minute when Brian Mullan stole the ball from Shalrie Joseph and put a shot past Chivas' Dan Kennedy in the first half.

Chivas/ offense struggled the entire match, but Angel was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time with seven minutes remaining in the match.

Tristan Bowen, a reserve for Chivas, crossed the ball from the left with Rapids goalkeeper Matt Pickens diving for it but unable to corral it. Once it was past Pickens, Angel came in and easily sent the ball into the goal.

Chivas USA is currently second to last in the Western Conference and is trying to make a late-run for the conference's fifth and final playoff spot. They are 13 points back from the fifth place Rapids in the standings. Chivas is 7-9-6 on the season. They will host Seattle on Aug. 25th.
