FC Dallas came to the Home Depot Center needing a win to pull closer to the Vancouver Whitecaps for the fifth and final playoff spot, but Chivas USA was able to score a second-half equalizer and come away with the 1-1 draw. The results broke a seven-game losing streak for the Goats, and leaves FC Dallas four points behind the Whitecaps with two matches to play.

Dallas jumped out to an early lead when Blas Perez netted a goal in the eighth minute. It was Perez's eighth goal of the season, but was all FC Dallas could muster after dominating much of the first half.

Chivas USA tied the game in the 67th minute when Jorge Villafaña knocked home a cross from Miller Bolaños. The goal was Villafaña's second of the season and broke a scoreless streak that dated back to a 2-1 loss to the Seattle Sounders on Sept. 8th.

The Goats were close to pulling the upset, as they had several chances in the second half. FC Dallas goalie Kevin Hartman made seven saves to preserve the point for his club.
