Chivas USA has a chance to play a role in the MLS playoff race as they host FC Dallas at 4 p.m. PT on Sunday. Dallas is five points behind the Vancouver Whitecaps for the final spot in the MLS postseason, and desperately needs a win over the last-place Goats. Chivas was eliminated after their loss to Vancouver on Wednesday, their seventh consecutive defeat.
These two teams last met on June 23, with the game ending in a scoreless tie. Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy recorded three saves in the shutout.
FC Dallas has tallied 5 points in their last three MLS matches, including ties with the Seattle Sounders and the San Jose Earthquakes, as well as a 1-0 victory over Vancouver.
The Goats will have a chance to play spoiler twice in the final weeks of the season, as they face Dallas again on Oct. 28. Sunday's game will be televised on Galavision.
