The Vancouver Whitecaps defeated Chivas USA 4-0 on Wednesday, continuing Chivas USA's season long struggles.
It was the second straight 4-0 defeat for Chivas USA, who have now lost their last seven matches. Vancouver jumped ahead early with a Gershon Koffie goal in the 11th minute. The Whitecaps added another first half goal at the 35 minute mark to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Vancouver scored two more goals in the second half goals to cruise to an easy victory over a Chivas USA team which struggled to mount any kind of offensive attack. While Chivas wasn't very far behind Vancouver in attempts on goal, trailing 10-8, Chivas USA finished without a single shot on target. On the other side, seven of Vancouver's 10 shots were on target.
Offensive struggles are nothing new for Chivas USA this season as they have now failed to score a goal in their last five matches. They have just two points in their last 11 matches and you have to go all the way back to July 28 for the last time they won a match.
Chivas USA is now 7-17-7 on the season. They will have a quick turnaround as they will be back on the pitch on Sunday when they host FC Dallas.
