On Sunday, the Anaheim Ducks hosted the Edmonton Oilers and came up short, despite having more than twice as many scoring chances than the visitors. The Oilers picked up the 2-1 win to bring the Ducks' record to 33-35-11.
All of the scoring in the game took place in the first period. The Ducks fell behind early as the Oilers picked up their first goal in the opening 15 seconds of the game, as Teemu Hartikainen found the net for the first time this season. At 6:04, Hartikainan struck again. Although the Oilers took just 15 shots on goal in the entire game, two of their first five shots got past Jonas Hiller.
The Ducks took 33 shots on goal, but the only one that counted was Teemu Selanne's 26th goal of the year, coming at 14:12 of the first period. Neither team would score for the remainder of the game.
