The Anaheim Ducks visited the Colorado Avalanche on Monday night in hopes of extending their win streak to three games. They came up short in their quest, as the Avalanche won by a final score of 4-1 and extended their own winning streak to four games.
Colorado opened the scoring at 9:26 of the first period, when Cody McLeod netted his fourth goal of the season. Bobby Ryan tied things up for the Ducks on a power play goal at 18:30 of the second period. It was Ryan's 23rd goal of the season. Colorado went on a tear in the decisive third period, with goals by Ryan O'Reilly, Matt Duchene and Jay McClement.
The Avalanche keep pace with the Dallas Stars with the win, with both teams knotted at 70 points in the Western Conference for the eighth playoff seed. The Ducks remain at 64 points, still just four points behind the fourth-place Los Angeles Kings, who also lost on the road tonight.
