The Anaheim Ducks kept their momentum rolling on Saturday afternoon as they bested the visiting Ottowa Senators in search of their fourth straight win. The 2-1 Ducks win must be viewed as something of an upset, since the Senators are currently two points behind the Boston Bruins in the Northeast Division and were 8-1-1 coming into the game in Anaheim, including having won their last two.
The Ducks surprised the Senators with their defense, blanking the formidable Ottowa team until the third period. Neither team scored until the second period, when the Ducks got on the board at 6:15 with Corey Perry's 22nd goal. Bobby Ryan and Ryan Getzlaf had the assists. Lubomir Visnovsky contributed the second Ducks goal at 17:00 with assists from Niklas Hagman and Saku Koivu.
Ottowa took 32 shots on goal in the game, but Jonas Hiller stopped all but one. In the third period, Chris Neil scored his eighth goal of the season at 8:51 with assists by Nick Foligno and Erik Karlsson. That would be the last goal either team would manage as the second-period goals by the Ducks held up and gave Anaheim the win.
With the win, the Ducks improve to 17-22-7 on the season and now have a total of 41 points.
