Teemu Selanne picked up his 900th point with the Anaheim Ducks, but unfortunately the club lost 3-2 to the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena on Saturday night. It was the ninth straight road loss for the Ducks. The last road win for the Ducks came on October 27 in Minneapolis against the Minnesota Wild.
Selanne assisted on a goal by Francois Beauchemin at 13:24 of the third period that pulled the Ducks to within 3-2, but the team couldn't pull any closer. It was the 20th assist of the season for Selanne and his 481st assist while with Anaheim. Selanne is the all-time franchise leader in games played (803), goals (419), assists (481), and points (900).
Selanne has 1,369 points in his career, tying him with John Bucyk for 23rd place in NHL history.
The Ducks fell to 1-3-1 under new coach Bruce Boudreau, and are 4-15-4 in their last 23 games overall. The Ducks were outshot by Nashville 28-17 in the loss. Jordin Tootoo had a goal and an assist for the Predators, who have won 10 of 13 games against the Ducks since the beginning of the 2010-2011 season.
Dan Ellis saved 25 of 28 shots in the loss to fall to 1-4 on the season.
The Ducks have three days off before a single home game on Wednesday against the Phoenix Coyotes. That game preceeds a five-game road trip, on which the Ducks will try to snap their nine-game skid away from home.
