Ducks Vs. Red Wings: Anaheim Blasted In Road Trip Finale 5-0 In Detroit

The Anaheim Ducks got blasted by the Detroit Red Wings 5-0 on Saturday night in the finale of a seven-game road trip for Anaheim. The Ducks have lost five straight contests and eight of their last nine games. Anaheim picked up just five points on their seven-game trip, finishing 1-3-3.

Nicklas Lidstrom scored two goals and had an assist for Detroit, who snapped a six-game losing streak of their own with the win. Johan Franzen had a goal and two assists for the Red Wings. Ducks' goaltender Jonas Hiller saved a season-high 45 shots, but let in five goals and was pulled with just under 10 minutes remaining.

The frustration boiled over for the Ducks when the normally mild-mannered Teemu Selanne was given a game misconduct less than a minute into the final period for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Center Peter Holland made his NHL debut for the Ducks on Saturday night. Holland, who turns 21 in January, was recalled from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League earlier on Saturday. Holland, who scored six goals and five assists in 12 games with Syracuse, and had his parents fly to Detroit from Toronto to watch his NHL debut.

The next game for the Ducks is Wednesday against the Nashville Predators at Honda Center.
