Ducks Vs. Sharks: Jonas Hiller Saves 31, Shuts Out San Jose

Jonas Hiller stopped 31 shots as the Anaheim Ducks won their home opener, beating the San Jose Sharks 1-0 at Honda Center Friday night. It was the 12th career shutout for Hiller, who has four wins in his last five starts against San Jose. Hiller has stopped 45 of 46 shots in his last two games, both wins.

Hiller was an NHL All-Star in 2011, but missed 24 of the final 25 games of last season was vertigo related symptoms. He has played every minute of all three games so far this season for Anaheim, and was named the first star of the game tonight.

Ducks center Maxime Macenauer scored a goal at 13:59 of the first period for the only score of the game. It was his first goal as a Duck, and was assisted by George Parros and Brandon McMillan.

The Ducks host the St. Louis Blues on Sunday, and Corey Perry will be presented with his 2010-2011 NHL MVP trophy before the game.
