Anaheim Ducks Vs. Minnesota Wild: Ducks Lose in OT

Final Score: Minnesota 2, Anaheim 1 (OT)

St. Paul, MN (Sports Network) – Antti Miettinen’s goal with 1:24 left in overtime lifted Minnesota past Anaheim, 2-1, at Xcel Energy Center.

Marco Scandella carried the puck down the right wing and sent a shot in on the Ducks’ net. Curtis McElhinney kicked the rebound right to Miettinen, who failed on his first attempt, but managed to redirect the puck in with his upper body.

Martin Havlat added a second-period score and Niklas Backstrom made 27 saves for the Wild, winners in five of their last seven games.

Teemu Selanne registered the lone goal for the Ducks, who stumbled to their third consecutive defeat. McElhinney stopped 25 shots in the setback.

The lone goals in regulation came less than two minutes apart as Selanne opened the scoring at 4:56 of the second, followed by Havlat at 6:34.

Selanne tallied on the power play into a half-open net from the left side after Corey Perry fooled Backstrom and a Minnesota checker with a behind-the- back dish in the slot.

Havlat scored on the backhand, while facing away from the Anaheim net along the goal line, as his attempted centering feed caught McElhinney by surprise.
