Midway through the third period of the Anaheim Ducks' 5-2 road victory over the Dallas Stars, left winger Matt Beleskey took a hard hit from Stehane Robidas of the Stars. Beleskey was helped off the ice after the hit, for which Robidas was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct. A pair of tweets after the game confirmed that Beleskey was okay. From the Ducks:
Matt Beleskey has full mobility after being checked into the wall during the 3rd period and leaving the game. Still being examined by docs.
...and from Beleskey himself:
Thanks everyone for the support , I'm doing just fine ... Little bell ringing never hurt anyone haha ... See ya soon OC
In other news the Ducks announced today that right winger Dan Sexton would have surgery on Thursday to repair a broken nose, meaning Sexton will miss two weeks. Arthur from Anaheim Calling analyzed the affect of Sexton's injury on the team:
The Ducks forward took a puck in the face while attempting to block a point shot from former Anaheim defenseman Ruslan Salei (who coincidentally broke Andy Sutton's thumb in a scrap to open the season). Sexton had no points in 7 games this season, but posted 13 shots and was looking good both on a second line with Koivu and Selanne and a third line with Bobby Ryan and Ryan Carter.
The Ducks return home to face the New Jersey Devils on Friday night at Honda Center.
