2013 NFL Mock Draft: No USC, UCLA prospects projected in the 1st round

NFL Draft boards fluctuate frequently this time of the year, but no USC or UCLA players are currently projected as first-round picks.

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-US PRESSWIRE

The 2013 NFL Draft is just over a month away, and if any prospects from USC or UCLA are going to be selected in the first round, they have some ground to make up.

In his latest mock draft, Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com didn't have a Bruin or Trojan cracking the first round. USC quarterback Matt Barkley and UCLA defensive end Datone Jones are considered to be the top prospects in the draft from the two schools. Barkley was once projected to go in the top 10, but has fallen considerably.

While neither school has a prospect in Jeremiah's latest first-round projection, Jones is projected to go No. 28 overall to the Denver Broncos in SB Nation's latest mock draft. The draft is deep on defensive ends, which could make Jones' status vary depending on how quickly the top defensive ends are selected.

Barkley and the other USC prospects will have a chance to boost their draft stock when the Trojans hold their pro day event on March 27. UCLA held its pro day on March 12.
