As they prepare to return from a bye week to take on the Utah Utes in a Thursday night Pac-12 showdown, the USC Trojans saw their ranking in the USA Today Coaches' Poll rise one spot, from No. 13 to No. 12, in the latest edition of the poll.
After a loss by the Stanford Cardinal to the Washington Huskies in last week's Pac-12 Thursday night showdown, the Cardinal vacated their No. 9 spot, allowing a handful of teams to rise in the rankings this weekend.
The UCLA Bruins, fresh from a convincing victory over the Colorado Buffaloes, just miss the top-25 of the poll, landing at No. 28, just behind No. 26 Washington.
The Bruins and Trojans, along with the rest of the nation, continue to trail the Alabama Crimson Tide, which landed 69 points ahead of the No. 2 Oregon Ducks. Overall, the top eight of the coaches' poll was unchanged from last week, with Stanford's vacated spot being the first sign of change week-to-week.
The rising Oregon State Beavers also climb four spots, from No. 21 to No. 17.
