The Tour Championship 2012: Jim Furyk Jumps Out To Leads, Tiger Woods Working Way Up

With most golfers a little through the halfway mark of Friday's 2012 Tour Championship round, Jim Furyk surged up the leaderboard to take sole possession of first place sitting at 8-under. He has seven birdies through his first eleven holes with nothing worse than par on everything else.

Furyk leads fellow American Matt Kuchar by two strokes. Robert Garrigus, Zach Johnson and Tigers Woods round out the top five with all three at 4-under on the day.

Woods has an even score on the day after balancing his first hole bogey out with a birdie on the par-4 third. He still has more than enough time to make up some ground though as he's only through his first six holes on the day.

Rory McIlroy, most people's FedEx Cup favorite, is currently 2-under overall with his 1-under round Friday. McIlroy still has five holes to play.
