2012 Olympics, Women's 10K Open Water: American Haley Anderson Takes Silver

It was a great day for a swim at the 2012 London Olympic games as the women's open water 10K swim got underway. And when it was all said and done, it was Hungary's Eva Risztov taking home the gold medal, holding off University of Southern California's Haley Anderson for the victory at London's Hyde Park.

Risztov and Anderson found themselves in a sprint to the finish, though Risztov was in front most of the way of the 10-kilometer race. She led a pack of five swimmers that broke away from the rest of the field late, including Anderson.

The winning time was 1 hour, 57 minutes, 38.2 seconds. Martina Grimaldi of Italy took home the bronze medal. World champion Keri-Anne Payne was fourth, just missing the podium.
