Inglewood's own Lashinda Demus took home the silver medal in the women's 400 meter hurdles on Wednesday in London at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Demus put up a time of 52.77 seconds, losing in a photo finish to Natalya Antyukh of Russia.
Antyukh posted a time of 52.70 seconds to take home the gold medal. Zuzana Hejnova of the Czech Republic brought home the bronze with a time of 53.38 seconds.
Georganne Moline and T'erea Brown of the United States took fifth and sixth place, respectively.
Demus, born in Long Beach and a resident of Palmdale, also competed in the 2004 Olympics. She holds the American record in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 52.47, set in 2011.
