The 2012 adidas Nations tournament continued on Sunday in Garden Grove with the third round of pool play. During the penultimate day of play, plenty of the world's top high school basketball players had chances to impress and all five local athletes made some contributions to their teams.
Latin America defeated Europe, 77-56 and Australia remained undefeated with their third win, defeating Asia 85-56.
The local talent was displayed in the other two games, each of which pitted two of the American teams against one another. In the first game, USA Red 2014 was defeated by USA Blue 2013 -- a team that featured three local players -- by a final score of 102-88.
Isaac Hamilton had four points, two rebounds and a steal for USA Blue 2013 in the game. Jordan Bell had two points, six rebounds, three blocks, an assist and a steal. Jordan Mathews, who scored 15 points on Saturday, had seven total points, a rebound and two assists. On USA Red 2014, Tyler Dorsey of Santa Monica had eight points, three rebounds and an assist.
The other all-United States game had USA Blue 2014 defeating USA Red 2013 in the closest game of the day, 78-75. Daniel Hamilton from Los Angeles was able to be a part of the winning team, helping out with seven points, three rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.
Monday's championship game will take place on Monday at Long Beach City College. The consolation game will begin at 5 p.m. PT and the championship will begin at 6:30 p.m. PT. Both of those games will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
