Looking to claim the gold medal that had so far eluded her at the 2012 Olympic games in London, American McKayla Maroney made a rare mistake in the women's vault final, having to settle for the silver medal as Romania's Sandra Raluca Izbasa claimed the gold.
Maroney's feet skidded out from under her on her landing, leaving the door open for the gold medal. Raluca Izbasa would take advantage.
Maroney did not look like a happy camper on the podium with her silver medal, but it was better than taking home no medals.
