2012 Olympics, Women's 4x100m IM Final: Rebecca Soni Leads Team USA To Gold

Team USA continued their dominance in team swimming events, winning the women's 4x100m IM final on Saturday in world-record fashion. They were the favorites entering the event and they certainly backed that up in the pool.

Missy Franklin started the race and got her team out to an early lead, and there was no looking back after that. Rebecca Soni, a former standout with the USC Trojans, swam second and continued to extend the U.S. lead. Dana Vollmer raced third and kept the team on pace for the world record, and Allison Schmitt served as the anchor and completed the final 100 meters to win the race in 3:52.05.

Australia won the silver medal after finishing in 3.54.02. Japan took home bronze as they won third in 3:54.24.

The men's 4x100m IM final is coming up shortly.
