2012 Olympics, Team USA Basketball: U.S. Men Avoid Upset Against Lithuania

Team USA basketball entered the 2012 Olympics as the heavy favorites to bring home gold, but no one told that to Lithuania. Despite being 34-point favorites on Saturday afternoon, the U.S. men nearly blew it against Lithuania and had to rally late to pull out a 99-94 victory.

It was a definite scare for the Americans, and probably one that was needed to remind them they are not invincible.

LeBron James led Team USA down the stretch, completely taking over the game with his talent and athleticism. He ended the day with 20 points. Carmelo Anthony continued to play well in London, going for 20 points as well. Kevin Durant hit four 3-pointers as he finished with 16, while Deron Williams went for 12.

Kobe Bryant did not have a good shooting night, making just one of his seven attempts from the field. He played a total of 20 minutes and had just seven points. Chris Paul continued to be a steady option at the point, dishing out six assists, recording four steals and added six points.
