The United States has started strong in the 2012 Olympics, winning a total of 43 medals and 21 gold. As day eight of competition arrives on Saturday, you can bet Team USA will look to continue their winning ways in the pool, on the gymnastics mat and on the track. Here is the schedule for Saturday's events.
Team USA basketball will look to duplicate their recent success against Lithuania. After a 84-point drubbing of Nigeria on Thursday, the United States will take the court as 34.5-point favorites.
Saturday will mark the final day of major swimming events. At 11:30 a.m. PST, the women's 50m freestyle will take place. This is followed by the men's 1500m freestyle at 11:36. After a brief delay the women's 4x100m IM is scheduled to start at 12:06 p.m. The final race of the day is the men's 4x100m IM, and that's set for 12:27.
A total of six gold medals will be distributed following a very busy day in Track & Field. The main events will be the men's long jump and 10,000m final. On the women's side, they have medals up for grabs in the discus throw and 100m dash.
