USC Trojan alum Steven Johnson and his mixed doubles partner Irina Falconi fell quickly in two sets to Kim Clijsters and Bob Bryan on Friday at the U.S. Open.
It was a quick and painless win for Clijsters and Bryan, who took less than 45 minutes to dispatch their foes. Johnson and Falconi only won 27 points compared to 52 for Clijsters/Bryan. Clijsters/Bryan were ruthless in the second set with their serves, winning 100% of their first serve points and 67% of second serve chances.
Falconi is out of the U.S. Open, but Johnson still gets to play after beating Ernests Gulbis in four sets to advance to the third round of the men's bracket.
