2012 Olympics Medal Count: USA Holds Slight Advantage Over China

The United States sat atop the medal leaderboard for the second straight day in London on Friday. They have won a total of 43 medals through six days of competition thus far, including 21 golds. The US has also claimed 10 silver and 12 bronze medals. As usual, Team USA has won big in gymnastics and swimming.

China remains in second place, just one medal short of the lead. They have won 20 gold, 13 silver and nine bronze medals. Russia is a distant third place with 23 medals, 12 of which are silver. Great Britain has moved into fourth with 22 medals, and Japan has dropped to fifth with 21.

Saturday will be another busy day in London as the US looks to protect their spot atop the leaderboard.
