Southern California native Anthony Ervin was looking to make his podium dreams come true on Friday in the 50M freestyle at the aquatic center at the 2012 London Olympic games, but unfortunately came up just short as France's Flourent Malaudou would claim the gold medal, while American Cullen Jones would take home the bronze.

Manaudou was dominant in this event, finishing in 21.34 seconds, a full .20 seconds better than Jones' time of 21.54. Current world record holder in the event, Brazil's Cesar Cielo would take home the bronze medal with a time of 21.59.

Ervin, a native of Valencia, CA, finished well back of the leaders with a time of 21.78, almost a half of a second slower than Manaudou.
