2012 U.S. Open Tennis, Match Update: Jon Isner Looking For First Round Victory

The U.S. Open continues on Wednesday at Flushing Meadows as American John Isner is locked into a hard-fought match with Belgium's Xavier Malisse in their first round matchup.

Isner won the first set by the score of 6-3, though was caught by Malisse early in the second set, having to battle back to even the set a 6 apiece. Isner would eventally win the second set 7-6, and now is down 2-0 in the third set of the match. Isner already had nine aces, as well as winning one of three break points thus far.

In other men's singles action, Serbian Janko Tipsarevic was in early control against France's Guillaume Rufin, taking the first two sets 6-4, 6-3, but has fallen behind after Rufin won the next two sets 6-2, 6-3. Tipsarevic currently holds the lead in the fifth set by the score of 2-1.
