2012 U.S. Open Tennis Scores: Victoria Azarenka Advances With Straight Set Victory

Women's world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka has been cruising so far at the U.S. Open in Flushing, New York, and continued that pace on Wednesday after taking out Kirsten Flipkens by the score of 6-2, 6-2.

The 23-year-old native of Belarus only needed 27 minutes to finish Flipkens in the first set, using a double break to go up 5-2 before closing out the set. She completed the same in the second set, using another double break to go up 5-2 and close out the match in the next game.

Azarenka will now take on No. 28 Jie Zheng on Friday, hoping to make it out of the third round of the Open for the first time since 2007.

In other morning action, No. 19 Nadia Petrova advanced in straight sets over Romania's Simona Halep. American Mallory Burdette also advanced, taking out Lucie Hradecka 6-2, 6-4.
