Lakers Offseason 2012: Jodie Meeks Knows His Role

Jodie Meeks can't wait to get on the basketball floor with his new teammates. And it's refreshing to see a guy who completely understands what his role will be when he signs with a new team. He knows that he will be the guy who backs up the incomparable Kobe Bryant as told to the Los Angeles Times.

"I'm looking forward to playing together with someone who will be in the Hall of Fame one day and go down as one of the best who ever played," Meeks told the Los Angeles Times. "I'll take pride in hoping to help him out with his minutes. Last year, he played a lot of minutes. So if I can go in there and take some minutes off of him, it will help the team out."

With the additions of Meeks and Antawn Jamison, and of course, Steve Nash and Dwight Howard, Bryant can look around the locker room and see other people who can put the ball in the basket. Playing 32 minutes and averaging 22-24 points while preserving himself for the postseason is something Bryant could be able to do with guys like Meeks surrounding him.
