MLB Standings: Angels Lose Ground In Wild Card Hunt

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim turn to C.J. Wilson Monday night against the Cleveland Indians to try and stop a two-game losing streak that has them two games out of an AL wild card playoff spot.

The Angels (60-55) are 31-24 at home but have lost seven of their last 10 games overall. They were fortunate to avoid being swept at home by the lowly Seattle Mariners over the weekend, as the Mariners won handily on Saturday and Sunday and saw a 5-0 lead get away on Friday and lost when Mike Trout scampered home on a wild pitch.

Wilson is 9-8 with a 3.34 earned run average, but he lost three starts in July without a victory and has a loss and a no-decision this month. Cleveland counters with Justin Masterson.

As it currently stands, Tampa Bay and Baltimore would be AL wild cards, but Oakland, Detroit and the Angels are right on their heels. The A's are just half a game back, the Tigers one full game.
