2012 Olympics, Men's Fencing Epee Gold Medal Match: Venezuela's Ruben Limardo Wins, Seth Kelsey Takes 4th

As the men's fencing epee final came to a close on Wednesday, Venezuela's Ruben Limardo tore off his headpiece, pumped both arms in the air and ran around the arena after winning the Olympic gold medal in the individual epee, beating out silver medalist Bartosz Piasecki of Norway by the score of 15-10 in the final round of the tournament.

Jung Jinsun of South Korea won the bronze, edging Santa Monica native Seth Kelsey by the tune of 12-11 in a match that needed overtime to decide a winner.

Limardo was seeded 12th at the start of the tournament, becoming the highest-seeded competitor to reach the medal rounds. Piasecki, another underdog in the event, took 43rd, 65th and 26th respectively in the last three world championships.
