Stage 8 of the 2012 Tour de France takes place Sunday, and the rolling stretch between Belfort and Porrentruy features seven categorized climbs over 157.5km. The day opens with a Category 4 climb just 20km into the race, moves to a Cat 3 climb shortly after, then heads over four Cat 2 climbs before finishing with a steep climb up Col de la Croix just 16km from the finish.
That's the kind of stage that favors a dedicated breakaway, who with the right timing and enough effort could steal a stage win. Look for a strong effort from younger riders, teams that haven't yet been featured, and French riders looking to impress their home fans.
